The Leviathan is a massive Dreadnought in service to the Dhilani Empire. With almost four miles from bow to stern this titan is the most powerful ship ever built within the Dhilani Armada and the pinnacle of their warfare industry. Leviathans are used as command ships leading massive battle groups with numerous carriers, troop ships and destroyers accompanying them.
Apart from its immense firepower the Leviathan is equipped with advanced shielding technology, which allows the ship to partially absorb some of the energy output sustained from enemy fire and transform it to add to its own power supply. Faced with an inferior enemy force this results in the Leviathan becoming increasingly stronger through the length of a battle.
This technology, although highly effective against defensive enemy fire, becomes more of a risk the more powerful an enemy is and the more energy the shields have to absorb at a time. Faced with high energy weaponry like fusion cannons, the transformators will eventually fail in their task and overload, leaving the ship exposed and vulnerable.

Dev notes & Origins
The Leviathan's design has gone through several revisions.
It's original name was Hammerhead because of its slighty arched hammer-shaped bow section vagually reiminiscent of a Hammerhead shark.
In the original comic the Dhilani posessed another even larger Dreadnought named the Warlord, which measured over 20 kilometers in length. In the course of the campaign development I scrapped that idea for sensibility's sake and, while keeping the Warlord by name, made it just another Leviathan-class.
History & Involvement
Apart from the original, namegiving Leviathan, two more dreadnoughts of its class were constructed. However, none of them would ultimately survive the confluct between the Dhilani Empire and the United Planets. The original Leviathan, commanded by Warmaster Coryis, was destroyed at the conclusion of the first Battle for Bricera.
The Warlord was the personal flagship of Dhilani Emperor Pharas. The Warlord met a similar fate just about a week later at the second Battle for Bricera.
The Cyclops was to act as command ship to the third expansion fleet but would never enter service, being destroyed, while still under construction during the UPMF attack on its shipyard within the Charnali Asteroid Cluster.
