Website Update and Re-Release Haul!

July 25, 2023

It's been a long while but finally here it is: The first wave of restored original Blue Phantom models!

How long has it been? 4 years - maybe even more? Pretty much since I closed down the old Blue Phantom website alot of my old original OPTs were no longer available, either due to incompatibility or due to me intending to remake or straight-out reimagine them. Many of those remakes are still a work in progress but I wanted to make the models available to you again. This first wave includes the following models

Of course, just reuploading the old models and calling it a day wouldn't do, I had to put in a little extra. So that's what I did.

  • All craft have had their normals recalculated to improve shading, make round things rounder and angular things more angular
  • All craft, where applicable, have had their tri-faces converted back to quad faces to improve performance
  • Most craft have seen an overall HD texture update, some to quite some extent.
  • Some craft have seen some more extensive model updates
  • All models now come with basic ini and mat files, some even including profiles.

A second wave is being worked on and may be (re)released some time later this year. Note tho, that some craft, such as the very old Dragonfly Assault Fighter, will not be included, as they are being completely re-imagined and releasing their old, obsolete versions makes little sense.

Furthermore I have released an updated version of my Predator-class Star Destroyer, which also features in the latest TFTC Update 1.3.3. For this model I have added an additional terrace onto its superstructure to somewhat bridge the gap between the old version and the HD remake, which I'm still working on.

Website Update

Last but not least I have pretty much remade the entire website. Not only have I gone for a much cleaner design with less visual noise, I have also completely restructured the content sections. Biggest change is that I have dissolved the separateion between XWAU, Blue Phantom and Standalone craft. Instead I have now split them by ship type and status but no longer by theme. Next, all the craft content pulled from a data base, which makes it alot easier to add and update craft info without having to create new pages - which makes changes to layout and design alot easier since I no longer have to touch 50+ pages to change a background color.

That's all, now get out there and have fun!
