The Cophuranee Patriot is a medium sized escort and reconnaisance ship. Due to its speed and its ability to land on planetary surfaces it is also often used to breach enemy lines and support evacuations or invasion forces.
Mark II:
The second generation Patriot was developed as a means to respond to constant pirate attacks on trade routes and distant colonies. In an effort to take the fight to the enemy the Patriot Mk II has been slightly stripped of its maneuverability for the sake of a greater cargo capacity to hold additional supplies, troops as well as support starfighters and ground vehicles.
To achieve this, a pair of aft-mounted hangar bays were added, allowing the ship to operate as a mobile base of operations in nonsecure sectors. To compensate for the increased resource demands, 3 of the 4 rear large dual turrets were replaced by a pair of smaller single turrets located atop the hangar modules
Armament
4 heavy forward cannons
8 medium Dual Turrets
14 light defense Turrets
For the Mark II, the quartet of fixed forward guns were removed in favor of another set of heavy dual-barreled turrets mounted ontop the added hangar bays.

Dev notes & Origins
By far one of my oldest designs, dating back to the late 1990's. I actually came up with the Mark II first and then derived the downgraded Patriot Frigate was actually derived from the Mark II version
With the recent 1.3 update I have merged both the Mk1 and Mk2 models into a single OPT file and made them selectable as object profiles. Additionally I have anticipated the scaling change I had planned for the HD remake and already scaled the model up from 300 to 400. Finally, I tweaked the textures so they look more in line with other Cophuranee ship designs.
HD Remake
The Patriot Mk2 was one of my first capital ship releases for X-Wing Alliance. By now it is lacking in detail by today's standards so eventually I went at it again and, deriving from textures, fleshed out certain areas of significance. That was the beginning of it.
