XT-25 Victory Series

Blue Phantom ChroniclesStarfighter - Superiority

The XT-25 Victory is a balanced and fierce superiority fighter. Fast, agile and well armed it is considered the new benchmark by which all future models are measured. After the desastrous launch of its predecessor, the XI-15 Interceptor, the Victory held true to its name and more than redeemed the company's damaged reputation.

Benefitting from new R&D breakthroughs in power distribution and resource management the XT-25 has received a major overhaul to weapons, shields and engine power, while at the same time its size and profile have been noticably reduced from its predecessors.

The XT-25 continues its line's trademark design principle. It has a sleek, airodynamic fuselage with a single-seat cockpit located at its center. Located to both sides of the fuselage are a pair of Ion thrusters in streamlined casings which extend into a pair of downward facing wings. An additional pair of smaller thrusters can be mounted ontop the main engines. The ship's pair of warhead launchers is located in modular casings in front of the main thruster modules, while its two twin-barreled plasma cannons are mounted within a notch at the beginning of the

The XT-25 was produced in the mid 2520's by Briceran Shipbuilding company ShiCon Dynamics and proved its versatility and reliability in the final stages of the Hedrecian feud between the ruling families of Bricera and Torlax. It also featured prominently in the great battles of the 2530's and 40's. Because of its success and popularity among pilots it continued to remain in service for almost three decades despite newer, more advanced models being released.

The Victory Line

Modular design, the Victory can be deployed in various configurations. The ship's base design features a pair of Ion Impulse thrusters, hyperdrive and shield generators, two twin-barreleed DIP plasma cannons and a pair of warhead launchers. Optional componens include an additional pair of thrusters heavy plasma cannons that can be installed instead of the warhead launchers.

XT-25/A Victory MK1

The Victory Mk1 is a light sector patrol fighter and focuses on practicality, functionality and reliability. Offensive and defensive capabilities are balanced and adequate for the fighter's role, allowing the Victory Mk1 to be commissioned at acceptable costs and deployed in a wide variety of tasks.

XT-25/B Victory Mk2

The XT-25B Victory Mk2 is a balanced and fierce superiority fighter. Fast, agile and well armed it is considered the new benchmark by which all future models are measured.

The Victory Mk2 has been outfitted with an additional pair of thrusters and improved shielding making it a step up in power from the regular Victory Mk1

XT25 / C Victory Mk3

The Victory Mk3 is a custom retrofit of the popular Mk2. With only a handful of units produced in secret, the Victory Mk3 is the undisputed apex predator among the Victory Series. Utilizing salvaged technology from captured Dhilani fighters, the Victory Mk3 has received countless upgrades and modifications to weaponry, shielding and propulsion systems.

As is common within the Victory Series, the Mk3 carries the standard pair of twin DIP plasma-cannons. The optional Warhead Launchers have been replaced with pair of heavy Energy Beam cannons salvaged from Dhilani fighters.

The Victory Mk3 was retrofitted from a standard XT-25 by SBC Warrior's Chief hangar engineer Eddie Mullins, aided by Myrna Qhalic, in secret colaboration with Shicon Dynamics R&D Department. Flown by a few select members of Phantom Squadron the fighter was without match, featuring prominently in the Battle of Khetaris where even the UPMF's new XT-30 Piranha couldn't stand up to it.

Dev notes & Origins

The first design for the Victory Mk2 made its first appearance in the hand-drawn comic "Shadows over Bricera", and was later evolved into its own ship, the P114 Precursor

The ship was originally named XT-250 B Victory Mk2 and went through numerous design stages. The Model Number was shortened and the Codename Raptor was introduced.

The Victory Mk3 was inspired by a special stealth version of the XT-25 that featured in one of the hand-drawn comics.

Derived from the Victory Mk2's model I wanted it to be a step up from the stock version like the Millennium Falcon is to the stock YT-1300. As such, to maintain game balance, it would only be flyable during the final missions of the Blue Phanom campaign. (if I ever completed it).

The original Victory Mk3 model had its wings pointing upward and the modified cannons attached to retractable flaps beneath them, which could fold inward to conceal these weapons. However I realized this made little sense as the cannons would clip into the ship's main thrusters and thus, realistically, find no place there.  For the remake I have therefore moved them to replace the warhead launchers and thus make the ship slightly less overpowered.

As I'm working on a HD remake of the Victory Mk2, this model will be retired and integrated as a profile into the regular XT-25 OPT.

HD Remake

For this one I chose not just to flesh out the details but also reimagine the ship as a whole, tackling several issues, that would not work practically and logically:

  • I've removed the missile lauchers from the fuselage and instead put them into separate compartments, allowing me to sleeken the fuselage itself and treat them as modular expansions.
  • The old VF2's engine casings were somewhat closed-up blocks with only the nacelles protruding out, making the engine section feel too massive. I have redesigned the casings casing as a layer of armor "wrapped" around the machinery parts.
  • For the cockpit, I've redesigned the canopy, adding an intersection so it could (in theory) be opened.
  • For the cannons I looked at the way I had designed them on the Piranha and built from there. The new weapons are no longer simply stuck inside the wings but have an actual casing that attaches them to the fuselage.
  • The new fins are more or less a tryout, but I kinda like them.

I also went back to earlier designs, which featured a light version with only the two main engines. All in all the whole model is now designed as fairly modular which allows for a multitude of specialized configurations.

With the new mesh profiles feature, I've decided to merge all the variations into one OPT. To keep things orderly, I have slightly gone back on the number of different variations, also unifying all models under the XT-25 tag, differentiating with the MK-tag. I have further scrapped the old Victory Mk3 model and am instead recreating it as part of the XT-25 line.
