Principal-class Freighter

Principal is an armoured freighter in service to KCL Corporate Forces. Measuring about 150 meters it is constructed by the independent Chicono Yards, designed for both transporting valuable cargo and protecting it and accompanying other freighters on their transit through unsecured territory.


Being primarily a freighter the Principal's speed and manoeuvrability are below average which is why the ship is rarely seen as part of any sanctioned military force. However, its powerful shields, thick armor and considerable number of defensive turrets more than make up for that. In addition, its ability to carry a pair of snub fighters make it a popular choice for transporting high-value goods and hold its own against pirate attacks.


With the private ship building company being denied the license to incorporate offensive weaponry, the Principal carries a fairly sizable number of defensive turrets. Furthermore its hangar can support a pair of starfighters or land vehicles for additional mobile support.

Dev notes & Origins

The Principal has its design roots in an old starship design called Renegade Cruiser, which would further evolve into the final models for both SBC Warrior and the Ascension-class Battlecruiser.


The ship was originally called Liberator-class Corvette, but with the release of the Space Engineers version I decided to change the name to better represent the ship's background and purpose. Not being a military ship the classification Corvette was inappropriate as was the name "Liberator" as it originalted from a corporate background.

HD Remake

I've started a HD remake on this one, transferring some details from the textures to the geometry and improving some weird shapes. Not much more to say just yet.
