The BX-8 Series is a line of heavy attack fighters produced by Shicon Dynamics. Measuring between 15 and 20 meters they offer ample space for a pilot and a gunner and are designed for a multitude of duties from long range reconnaisance to heavy assault.
The BX-8 Series stands out from other Shicon Dynamics models because of their generally insect-like shape with several wings and large sidewards viewports reminiscent of insectoid eyes.
The stock Dragonfly is an overall generalist model, striking a fine balance between offensive and defensive capabilities as well as moderate speed and maneuverability, it is held in high regards for being most versatile ship of its line.
The Dragonfly is quipped with a quartet of Plasma blasters, dual EMP cannons and a pair of Warhead launchers mounted on its lower wings.
Along with this, 2 more specialized variants were produced.

"Hornet" Artillery variant
The BX-80/A Hornet Artillery gunship is designed to operate at long range. What it lacks in agiility it makes up with steady and precise handling, enabling the Hornet to support its peers by sniping enemy targets from afar and clearing a contested area.
Because of the increased weight and high energy consumption of its main weapons, the Hornet has been equipped with a larger and more potent power plant. Since the signifficant weight increase takes its toll on speed and maneuverability, the Hornet has been equipped with an atonomous afterburner, which gives it a temporary speed boost in order to quickly get out of dangerous situations.
"Scarab" Bomber variant
The BX-80/B Scarab Assault Bomber focuses on pure warhead power. Equipped with multiple warhead launchers it can carry several different loadouts at a time. In addition the Scarab carries a pair of EMP cannons to disrupt its targets defensive fire.

Dev notes & Origins
The BX-8 series originates from a single model, the BX-800 Dragonfly, which was one of the first models I released, way back in 2003. which has already gone through numerous reiterations since its initial release, already having an almost completed OPT set with Exterior and cockpit, which would just so miss its release for a number of reasons:
HD Remake
In the end I pretty much started from scratch and reimagined the whole thing, ending up modular design with various possible configurations. In the end I've split this up into the three versions described above
These new designs are a lot bigger and, while still just a bit longer than the Victory-series, they're a lot bulkier. Still, I'm looking for ways to make them bit bigger yet. 18-20 meters should be in order ...?
