Hedrec is a Planet in the Hedrec-System within the Phoenix Loop. It is the 4th celestial body within the system. It is classified as Tertiary World.
This exotic world appears like a regular planet turned inside out. All live, sentient and nonsentient, is located in the inside of the hollow planet, while the surface is mostly covered by an ocean of molten minerals and metals, kept liquid by the planet's proximity to the system's primary star. Due to this unusual and deceiving appearence the first pioneers had mistaken it to be a small secondary sun, until further explorations revealed it to be an actual planet.
Once discovered, Hedrec was soon deemed a rich quarry for minerals which, given the surface's liquified state, could be siphoned right off. Within the process of establishing mining operations, the natural chasms connecting the planet's inside with the outside, were stabilized and isolated to provide safe spaceship passage.
Politically Hedrec does not belong to any particular faction but a conglumerate of mining enterprises who operate under a creed of economic neutrality. Likely this and the planet's natural defensibility was why in 2523 Hedrec was chosen as the location for the treaty that founded the United Planets.
