Bermuda Passage is a Asteroid Cluster in the Bermuda-System within the Bermuda Nebula. It is the only celestial body within the system. It is classified as Hazard Zone.
The Bermuda Nebula is a huge and dense nebula inbetween the western Phoenix Loop and Ruby Wave Nebulae and the eastern Pradian Stream. Consisting of various large gas clouds it creates a natural barrier between the two territories. While no stars have been located in this sector, the gas clouds are yet held together by some kind of gravitational force, which leads scientists to suspet a black hole in the center of the nebula. While the sector is rich with vast mineral deposits, it seems devoid of any planets or planetoids, further indication that any large planetary bodies may have been shattered by the gravitational forces within the nebula's heart.
The matter of this sector's origin has been a subject of heated debates for years. The most common theory, while not formally accepted is that the passage was formed as product of a cataclysmic event in primordial times possibly the collision of two or more celestial bodies drawn together by the hypothesized black hole. Vague images lead to believe the cloud is in a slow spinning motion, which further emphasizes this theory, but hard evidence has yet to be provided, an effort not easily made due to the sheer scope of the nebula and its zero-vision opaquenesss.
Off-Limits
The passage's instability and lethally high radiation levels, the entire sector and its vicinity have been declared a maximum hazard zone and as such off-limits by UPA authorities in accordance with general space travel safety regulations.
However, despite these edicts numerous groups of outcasts and criminals have made attempts to set up hidden outposts in the outskirts of the nebula, however while some simply disappeared others eventually resurfaced showing various adverse symptoms ranging from disorientation or mengal disorder to severe radiation poisoning.
The so-called Bermuda Passage describes a portion of the nebula which is less dense and rumored to be traversible, an uncharted pathway leading through the nebula and connecting the two territories. However, given the travel restrictions, there are no buoys or markers indicating the path and any navigational data is said to be non-existent.
